Super Enduro Germany: Strong Results Across All Classes as Plews Riders Battle Tight Track

Round 2 of the Super Enduro Championship took place in Germany, Riesa. Starting off the first weekend of 2026 with excitement and adrenalin. A cold round with snowy conditions outside, this event took place in what would be considered a pretty small venue. A tight track made racing tricky and challenging but the passion from the crowd was everything riders needed to take on the challenge.

Something interesting about Super Enduro is their approach to rider starting order. To begin the event you have a Superpole that secures the top 7 riders who start on the first row. Riders from position 8th - 14th are ordered according to their time practice results. You’ll also find a reverse order start for race 2 of the Prestige and Junior class. A reminder that these classes will have a total of 3 finals per event where as the European Cup and Youth classes have 2 finals per event.

European Cup

Alessandro Azzalini who is our Plews supported rider headed into round 2 in 3rd overall in the European Cup classification with 26 points. Race time for this class is 5 minutes + 1 lap.

The first final of the evening was a great start for Alessandro who found himself in 3rd after the first corner. A tussle with Zsigovits pushed him back to 4th where he stayed consistent throughout the race until a battle with Miguel on the over/under. An interesting obstacle on this tight track and one that would provide many opportunities for riders to push for positions. It was after this battle that Azzalini would find himself in 5th crossing the finish line with 11 points.

Final 2 saw Azzalini starting on the second row in 8th due to the reverse start order. Alessandro had a decent start and was in 5th after the 1st lap. This was would prove to be a reasonably uneventful race after passing Goerner for 4th, Azzalini would ride consistently maintaining his position to finish in 4th with 13 points.

Azzalini finishes his night in 4th overall and securing a total of 24 points. Looking at the championship standings, he is currently in 4th with 50 points. He will be looking to close the gap to 3rd in the next round.

Youth

The Youth classification is where young riders are on 125CC bikes. Conner Watson who is our Plews supported rider headed into round 2 in 3rd overall in the Youth classification with 30 points. Race time for this class is 5 minutes + 1 lap.

The first final was not a great start to Watson’s evening. Conner hit the start gate which left him with a lot of work to do to catch up to the group from the back of the pack. A challenge he would take head on as he slowly worked up to 5th position. His competitor Adam Bilik would take a tumble, opening the door to move up into 4th. Laska was the next rider for Watson to overtake. He tried to take an inside line which unfortunately resulted in them colliding on the over/under and Watson remaining in 5th. With the race end in sight, Watson took his final shot by pushing hard in the rock garden to overtake Laska and Martinez on the outside. It works and Watson finished the race in 3rd with 15 points.

For final 2, Connor finds himself on the first row in 1st position. A great place to be heading into the race but in an unfortunate turn of events, Watson get’s caught up on the cement pipe and goes down in the rock garden corner. This would push him back to last position. If there is anything we know about Watson, it’s his ability to put his head down and work through the group. 10th, 7th, 5th, and then fighting with Laska for 4th, whom he overtakes in the rock garden. Once again he would find himself against Bilik who crashes and allows Watson to pass into 3rd. Connor finishes another race in 3rd with 15 points.

A consistent night of racing for Conner who finishes in 3rd with 30 points. Looking at the championship standings, he will head into round 3 in 3rd overall with 60 points.

Junior

The Junior classification is a very competitive class with young riders looking to prove themselves before heading to the Prestige classification. Toby Shaw, who is our Plews supported rider headed into round 2 in 3rd overall in the Junior classification with 39 points. Junior riders have 3 finals per event with a ride time of 6 minutes + 1 lap.

Shaw has a great start in the first final coming into the first corner in 3rd. It’s not long before he overtakes Gómez for 2nd and then passes for 1st. Toby was the fastest rider to qualify in the morning and it was clear he had found his rhythm on this track as he build a gap between himself and 2nd. A challenge for a race leader are “back-markers”, riders who are at the back of the pack and need to be passed. On his way to the finish with almost a 10 second lead, Shaw stalls his bike to give the crowd and commentators a heart stopping moment before crossing the finish line in 1st. Another Victory for Shaw securing 20 points.

Final two would be a reverse start which puts Shaw on the second row. At this point of the evening first corner becomes a notorious spot for riders to crash and a bottleneck to occur. This is exactly what would happen and Shaw would find himself in 12th position after lap 1. He overtakes on the cement pipe into 9th and works up to 5th ahead of Popovici with 2 laps to go. Before the end he takes a chance to overtake Boam and finishes the race in 4th with 13 points. Toby is once again on the first row for the start of the last final. After a good start he finds himself in 2nd after the first corner and nipping at the back of Schmüser who sits in 1st. Shaw would spend the majority of this race taking any chance he can get to overtake Milan for 1st and kept great pressure on the rider. Unfortunately it wouldn’t be enough and Shaw would finish in 2nd with 17 points.

Toby finishes his night in 2nd overall and securing a total of 50 points. Looking at the championship standings, he is currently in 2nd with 89 points. A gap is forming between the top 3 and he’ll look to stay ahead of Gómez and catch up to Schmüser.

Prestige

The most competitive class in Super Enduro is the Prestige classification. We have 2 Plews supported riders namely, Diogo Vieira and Marc Fernandez. Prestige riders have 3 finals per event with a ride time of 6 minutes + 1 lap. At the end of round 1 Vieira was sitting in 10th position with 20 points and Fernandez in 9th with 21 points.

Marc Fernandez had an unfortunate turn of events during the free practice in Germany. He broke his fingers and although it may seem like a small injury, it’s enough to keep him off the bike for a couple weeks while he recovers. He was unable to compete in the finals at this round of the Championship. We are all optimistic for a speedy recovery and to see Marc back on the bike soon.

The first finals race for the prestige class started with a big crash in the first corner. Mitch Brightmore went down heading into the cement pipe which had a cascading affect on the riders behind him. Vieira got caught up in the chaos and found himself in 6th position with 4 minutes to go. Riders were on their game and Vieira was passed by a few to finish in 10th position with 6 points. The second finals race was a reverse start which ideally placed Vieira on the front row. A great start allowed Vieira to stick into 3rd after the first corner. The over/under would once again prove to be a key feature in this event and after battling with Garcia and Karlsson, Vieira moved back to 6th. Competition was fierce but with consistent riding Vieira finished in 8th position with 8 points.

The final race of the night was finals 3 where Vieira had a 2nd row start. While it was not the best start, Vieira took full advantage of a fall from Mitch and pushed himself into 8th after the first lap. It would be back and forth to keep hold of this position in a fight with Karlsson. At one point Karlsson had taken a tumble which allowed for Vieira to overtake but it wouldn’t be long before Karlsson was back to claim 8th on the last lap. Vieira finished the race in 9th with 7 points.

Diogo Vieira finishes his night in 8th overall and securing a total of 21 points. Looking at the championship standings, he is currently in 8th with 41 points. In two weeks time riders will be heading to Spain, Bilbao for round 3 on January 17th.
