MXGB Round 5 results - Landrake

Round 5 of the Motul ACU British Motocross Championship took place at Landrake on August 10th. It was a weekend filled with blue skies and sunshine which resulted in the track being quite dry and dusty. THis weekend racing was all about getting a good start as passing was quite challenging with the limited grip on track. Here are some results from the Plews supported riders.

MX1

Looking at the MX1 class we had Tristan Purdon and Charlie Putnam racing.

Tristan Purdon had some great racing coming 5th in qualifying and 3rd in moto 1. It was during Moto 2 that things took a turn where a silly crash resulted in a broken tibia, fibula and collarbone. Being unable to finish the race Tristan managed an overall result of 11th. He has already undergone surgery and we wish him a speedy recovery.

Charlie Putnam started the day with a 16th in qualifying which he improved to a 12th in moto 1. It was in moto 2 that he really found his groove with a 9th position. Overall Charlie takes a 9th and says he’s on a pretty good run at the moment and hoping to stay on the train.

MX2

Looking at the MX2 class we had Charlie Heyman and Syd Putnam racing.

Charlie Heyman has been getting better throughout this racing season and this event was no different. He started the day with a 1st in qualifying and kept that momentum to secure a 3rd in moto 1.In his last race of the day he fell back 1 place to finish moto 2 in 4th. Looking at the overall results Charlie finishes in 2nd overall behind Tommy Searle and 1st in the under 21 class.

Syd Putnam once again racing consistently and improving throughout the day. He started with a 33rd in qualifying, 27th in moto 1 and 23rd in moto 2. He finishes the day in 16th overall in the under 21 class. He says that he’s real happy with his riding and knows what he needs to work on to try get faster.

125

Looking at the 125 class we had Ryan Waggot, Hayden Statt and Harry Lee racing. These riders are hot on each others heels and really had a fantastic weekend of racing.

Ryan Waggot qualified in 2nd and had two great races coming 1st in moto 1 and 2nd in moto 2. He finishes the weekend on the podium in 2nd overall and tied on championship points.

Hayden Statt qualified in 5th and went on to finish both moto 1 and 2 in 3rd. Overall his consistent results secured him a spot on the podium and 3rd overall.

Harry Lee started the day strong by qualifying in 6th. He had some decent results with a 4th in moto 1 and a 5th in moto 2. He finished the day just off the podium with a 4th overall.

 

 

 

 

 

 

The riders will be heading to the opposite end of the country for the next 2 rounds a Duns in Scotland.
