Double Header Success: Plews Riders Shine at Duns Championship Rounds

The 2025 Motul ACU British Motocross Championship had a double header with rounds 6 and 7 taking place in Duns from August 30th - 31st . This track is one of Scotland’s best dirt bike facilities and has been a staple in the Scottish off-road scene since as far back as the 80’s.

MX1

Charlie Putnam had a tough weekend with a hard crash in the first race on Saturday which left him a bit battered. This required more of a survival weekend and doing his best to get points where he could. Saturday race 1 was an unfortunate DNF but race two was better with a P15. Looking at Sunday race 1 was a P18 and race 2 was his best result of the weekend with a P13.

MX2

Charlie Heyman had a solid weekend of racing. On Saturday he made a small mistake in the 1st race which kicked him out of the top 3 finish but still managed to finish P6 and P3 in race two. On Sunday Charlie finished race 1 in P4. Race two was a strong start with the holeshot but with another mistake he was able to finish in P7. Charlie now sits 2nd in the championship heading into the final round.

Syd Putnam had a consistent weekend of racing with this double header race. On Saturday in race 1 he finished in P23 and race 2 in P22. On Sunday he finished race 1 in P19 which earned him 2 championship points and then in race 2 he finished in P21.

On a lighthearted note we all know how competitive riders on a team can be and to demonstrate this we have a fun video to share. Hot laps was an opportunity where all 4 riders from the SC SPORTHOMES HUSQVARNA team could compete against each other for the fastest lap. Watch the video here.

Ryan Waggot had some great racing over the weekend. On Saturday his result in race 1 was P2 and after a holeshot lead for most of race 2 he finished with a P2. On Sunday he started strong with a holshot in race 1 but after a mistake and a crash that left him with a twisted knee he finished in P4. Looking at race 2 he didn’t have the best start but still managed a P2 finish.

Hayden Statt raced consistently over Saturday and Sunday. In round 6 he managed a P3 in both race 1 and 2. Looking at Sunday race 1 was his best result of the weekend with a P2 and the final race he finished with a P4.

Harry Lee finished this double header weekend with a 4th and 5th overall. Although he didn’t feel like he found his flow on the track he still had some great results. On Saturday in race 1 he finished in P4 and race 2 in P5. For the final race day on Sunday he finished in P9 in race 1 and P5 in race 2.

Riders will all be heading to Lyng, Norfolk for the final round 8 over the weekend of September 21st.
